Feel free to unplug your router, POE, even your computer from the power outlet when not in use to prevent any loss. If your equipment is damaged during a storm it is not covered by manufacturer's warranty. Warranty protects you from defects when being made, not acts of mother nature. Unfortunately you or your insurance company will be left footing the bill if anything needs to be replaced.
